About Umeå School of Education
USE provides training for
• Pre-school and primary teachers
• Secondary and upper secondary teachers
• Study and vocational guidance counsellors
• Special education teachers
• Special needs teachers
Other areas of activity are courses for unqualified teachers wishing to acquire a teaching degree, continuing professional development courses for practising teachers and supplementary training for teachers with a foreign teaching degree.
Research
Educational science research at Umeå University is focused on the following strong research areas:

In addition, research is carried on in the following development areas:

• Educational history and history didactics
• Memory and learning
• Young people’s education, career development and welfare
Educational science research is also pursued in the areas of learning processes in aesthetic subjects, gender, democracy, fundamental social values and sports education.
